Philippines – IED attack at Mindanao State University

Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for an IED attack carried out on a Catholic Mass at Mindanao State University in the Philippines. Images shared by the Lanao del Sur Government showed military officials surveying the site of the blast which occurred on 3 December 2023.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. stated that investigations by military and police explosive experts revealed that the IED used was based on a 60mm mortar round with an RPG round.
