Kuwait – UAVs attempt to smuggle contraband into Jahra Governorate prison

It was announced on 8 September 2024 that Kuwaiti prison officials had managed to intercept contraband smuggled into Jahra Governorate’s Central Prison. Included in the smuggled packages were at least 2 mobile phones and a large quantity of narcotics.

The perpetrators utilised 3 UAVs to carry out the operation, including one which conducted surveillance to confirm the absence of security personnel. To create a distraction, the perpetrators had also instructed inmates to start fights so that the contraband could be discreetly delivered.

The Department of Corrections are collaborating with the General Department for Combating Drugs to identify the individuals responsible.
