Syria – IED concealed in a fabricated rock found in Daraa Governorate

On 18 February 2025, images published on social media showed an IED, alongside weapons and ammunition, that was recovered by the Syrian Internal Security Service.

The device, which consisted of an anti-tank mine concealed in a fabricated rock, was found in Elnaymah at the same time operations targeting criminals affiliated with ISIS were taking place in the town. Reports state that nine people were arrested under suspicion of collaborating with ISIS. These are the first such operations targeting ISIS collaborators to be carried out since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024.
