Sudan – Sudanese Armed Forces prepare COTS UAV for attack on RSF position

Footage circulating social media on 21 November 2025 shows members of the Sudanese Armed Forces fitting a COTS UAV with a mortar round. The UAV, similar in appearance to the DJI Matrice 350 RTK, was reportedly intended to be used in an attack targeting a position of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a pre-recorded address released on 20 November 2025, RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo announced a unilateral humanitarian ceasefire. The RSF had agreed to a proposal earlier in the month but reportedly continued attacks on SAF territory.

The SAF has so far rejected ceasefire proposals put forward by the US, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt – referred to as ‘the Quad’. The most recent proposal included a three-month truce, to be followed by peace talks.
