Bolivia – Dynamite concealed in tyres located in Parotani

As part of operation ‘Recuperando La Patrio’ (Recovering the Homeland), the San Pedro de Atacama Fire Department carried out searches in Parotani and the surrounding areas of Cochabamba Department. On 12 November 2024, dynamite sticks concealed in tyres were discovered near the Parotani bridge. A day earlier, on 11 November 2024, the Bolivian Minister of Defence, Edmundo Novillo Aguilar reported that a soldier had been injured when an explosion occurred during a patrol.

Following this incident, the Bolivian Police and the Bolivian Armed Forces carried out further searches in the region which has recently witnessed a 24-day road blockade carried out by supporters of Evo Morales, the former president of Bolivia. New searches also uncovered BME in Pirque Hill and a VOIED installed under the Parotani bridge.
