Colombia – VBIED functions in Jamundi

A vehicle-borne IED (VBIED) detonated outside a gym in Jamundi early on Wednesday, 12 June 2024. CCTV footage from the incident shows the magnitude of the IED blast, which took place as a police patrol vehicle passed by.

Two police officers were among the six injured in the explosion. The attack was ascribed by the Colombian government to the Estado Mayor Central (EMC), a rebel group within the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The FARC was also implicated in two further IED-related incidents that occurred in Colombia on the same day.
