Guyana – IED targets East Ruimveldt Police Outpost

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) have launched an investigation following an incident that occurred at approximately 00:40 on 17 May 2025. Sources state that an IED targeted the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost, resulting in damage to the southern metal gate. Investigators have recovered nuts, bolts and fragments originating from a hard plastic container located at the scene. A police constable reportedly heard two explosions followed by debris impacting the area.

Another explosion occurred on the same day at the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) substation on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown. Several individuals have been contacted in relation to the events and CCTV footage is being reviewed as investigations continue. Authorities are examining the possibility of a link between the two incidents.
