Israel – Firearms smuggled from Egypt to Israel by UAV

On 27 October 2025, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted a UAV remotely delivering weapons into Israel from Egypt. The smuggling attempt involved a DJI Matrice 400 UAV, which remotely delivered two AZ 7.62 assault rifles in an area covered by the Paran Brigade. The 512th Paran Brigade are based in Kziot and specialise in border surveillance, defence and internal training of the troops assigned.

According to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee, nearly 900 drone smuggling attempts from Egypt were recorded in the past three months, marking a dramatic increase from 464 attempts in the same period in 2024.
