Israel – VBIEDs explode across Israel

On 20 February 2025, three vehicle-borne IEDs (VBIEDs) functioned in buses across various locations in Bat Yam. A further two VBIEDs were later found in Holon and were rendered safe by disruption. Each device consisted of an electric alarm clock with a quantity of fertiliser and urea. No casualties were reported.

CCTV footage shows the perpetrator leaving a device, concealed in a white plastic bag, on a bus in Bat Yam at 20:57. Reports state the devices should have detonated between 09:00 and 09:30 on 21 February 2025. The timers are reported to have been incorrectly set and functioned 12 hours early.

The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of HAMAS, later alluded to their involvement in the attack.
