Moldova – Shahed UAV debris discovered

Near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, remnants of a Shahed-type UAV were discovered by the Moldovan Border Police.

The UAV was reportedly flown on a low flight path on the night of 11 February 2024, before crashing near the town of Etulia. No casualties were reported however, within the debris, a 50 kg warhead was recovered and rendered safe in a controlled detonation.

In the following weeks, remnants of another UAV were also discovered near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

As well as additional reports of UAVs flying into Moldovan airspace, which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova have since stated that “no drone launched by the Russian Federation tonight over Ukraine has flown over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova”.
