Sudan – UAV intercepted over Khartoum

Sudanese Paramilitary fighters, with ties to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), intercepted an Iranian made Mohajer-6 UAV on 15 January 2024.

The UAV, belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces, was intercepted by man-portable air-defence systems (MANPADS) and is typically used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance purposes. Mohajer-series UAVs have previously been exported to several other African countries, such as Libya and Ethiopia.

The event marks an escalation in the ongoing conflict, following initial clashes between military factions over a proposed move to civilian rule.
