Syria – Assadists plant IED on the Jableh–Latakia highway

On 19 March 2025, the Syrian security forces defused an IED planted alongside the Jableh-Latakia highway. The device consisted of a pipe with welded square ends wrapped in clear plastic with two RGD-5 hand grenades secured to one end. This is the second device installed along the highway by Assad loyalists within a week.

In a video statement released on 12 March 2025, Muqdad Fatiha, the leader of the Coastal Shield Brigade, claimed that IEDs would be planted along transportation routes as part of a forthcoming offensive against the government forces.
