Thailand – ping-pong IEDs found hidden in traffic cones on Pattaya Beach
On 31 January 2024, the Pattaya Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Department responded to an incident, which happened around 11:45 p.m. A police officer reported that as he was moving a traffic cone, there was a loud explosion, followed by an IED that resembled a ping-pong ball.
Following a search of the area, a second IED was located, approximately the size of a grenade and wrapped in black duct tape, was found under another traffic cone. The IED was rendered safe by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department.
