Trinidad and Tobago – Recovery of contraband and a UAV near Arouca Maximum Security Prison

In a statement released by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), prohibited items and a UAV were recovered following a major joint operation conducted approximately fifty metres from Arouca Maximum Security Prison (MSP). During an intelligence-led operation from 28-29 September 2025, contraband, including a substantial quantity of narcotics, cigarettes and communication devices, was recovered. The contraband was intended to be remotely delivered into Arouca Maximum Security Prison. Three suspects were apprehended in relation to the incident.

Additionally, a commercial off the shelf (COTS) DJI Air 3 UAV, UAV batteries, a release mechanism and a DJI RC 2 hand controller were recovered amongst other items. The operation was carried out by the Special Investigative Unit, Multi Operational Police Section, Crime Scene Unit, Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Specialist Units, Fusion Centre and other intelligence entities.
