Myanmar – UAVs target polling station in Myingyan District

The final round of the Myanmar elections coincided with conflict and clashes reported across eight of the nine states and regions covered by the latest Phase 3 vote. Elections were held in three phases, including on 28 Dec, 11 Jan and 25 Jan. During that time, heavy fighting led to the closure of many polling stations.
On 25 January 2026, an attack involving explosive-laden UAVs resulted in the closure of a polling station in Lel Thit village located in Myingyan District, in Mandalay Region. A total of four UAVs were reportedly used in the attack. Additionally, an explosive device was remotely delivered, targeting a party office where ballot papers were collected. Several casualties were reported. On Monday, Myanmar’s Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) claimed that it had won the first election since the military coup in 2021.
