Belgium – Attacks on European Jewish Institutions

The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right (IMCR), also known as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Jewish institutions across Europe between 9 – 16 March 2026. The group appeared abruptly, with footage of the events rapidly circulating on Shi’ite axis Telegram channels, indicating a possible connection to Iranian proxy groups. Alongside the footage, the group published a statement, calling on ‘warriors of Islam’ to defend their religion.

The first attack carried out by the IMCR occurred on 9 March 2026, during which the Synagogue of Liege was targeted with an incendiary IED. Footage released on 11 March by the IMCR shows the perpetrator placing the device at the entrance of the synagogue. The explosion at the Synagogue of Liege, as well as subsequent attacks carried out by the group, have resulted in the World Jewish Congress and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling on governments to take the threat seriously.
